| Time trials 2004 |
3 events were cancelled due to exceptionally bad weather or road works. There was an increase in the number of competative rides from last year and 2002. A similar programme of events is planned for 2005. The hill climb will again be an inter-club with VC Sevale and we hope to hold two inter-club events with the Wyre Forest CRC at Spetchley in 2005 |
| Road Races |
Both races were successful this year. For 2005 the August race will be for E, 1, 2, 3 cats. The May race will be for 1, 2, 3 cats. Both races on the Kinnersley circuit. |

Three Peaks Cyclo-cross
Sept 04 |
The Worcester St Johns team put in an excellent performance last Sunday in "The World's toughest cyclo-cross race" - the Three Peaks in Yorkshire. It really was tough this year with the ground very wet from the summer's heavy rain and drizzle and very high winds on the day. Despite this, and a few minor falls and the ususal mechanical problems, Jon Newey, Gavin Poupart and Sid Starkey all managed to finish well up in 316 entrants. Jon and Gavin placed 36th and 38th respectively finishing in about 3 hours and 54 minutes, while Sid battled round just under the 5 hour mark in 186th place. A big thanks must go to Rachel and Sophie as Jon and Gav's back up team, and to VC Sevale's Bob Blinston for supporting Sid. |
| Gordon Chamberlain |
Gordon arrived at John O Groats at 4.30pm today (Sunday 26th). The weather today was dreadful in Scotland with very high winds which blew his Trike over and deposited him on the grass verge.
But he made it, |

Camping and Cycling in Kington.
Club members who joined in the weekend were not disappointed. Jon and Rachael went a day early and got in some extra miles cross-country. But everyone else arrived on Friday evening. Including friends from the Wolverhampton climbing club there were twelve of us in Kington.
It rained soon after arriving but the campers moved in on Rick and Chris in the caravan for cups of tea before we all went out for dinner in the village and on the Town Tavern for a few drinks. Beer here has gone up to £1.35 a pint but it is well worth the extra cost.
On Saturday half the club went off road while the rest rode the local lanes or walked over Hergerst Ridge and had lunch out. A Bar BQ followed but Rick has a bit to learn about cooking chicken (the cremation was a success though). Sunday was a similar format to Saturday and most of us also managed to have a wander round the Vintage Fair which was on the next field. Marcus particularly enjoyed this as he and his Dad used to show an old Ford at similar shows some years ago.
I hope you will be able to join us next year. |

Evening News Trophy Road Race
The Evening News Trophy road race on August 8th turned out to be another success. The organiser, Jon Newey, would like to say a massive thanks to all who helped on the day including Dorothy and Margaret (the club's resident chefs), support vehicle drivers, Dave Jennings for setting out the course, Evelyn for getting all the riders signed in, the 13 marshals, Sam for judging the primes and finish, Clinton and Marcus for race service and Nick Toy for covering the first aid. Several comments were made about the good standard of organisation, so well done to everybody! |
| Badgery Bowl |
Many thanks to Mike and Rose Mahon for organising the Badgery Bowl. The Quiz and route attracted more contestants this year than for some time |

CLUB NIGHT - THE BELL INN, ST JOHNS
Tuesday 6th January
The first Club night at our new venue was very successful with 17 members and friends attending. A committee meeting was also held during the evening.
Members decided to continue to hold meeting on the first Tuesday of each month and I have booked the back room at the Bell for Tuesday 3rd February and 2nd March. There will be a committee meeting on 2nd March.
The room is available from 7.30pm until closing time. There are dart boards, TV and plenty of room to talk. The room is not a bar so children are welcome.
There is room for 30+ bikes in the back yard which can be accessed from the alleyway, one shop to the left of the Bell Inn. You will find a large double gate 20 yards up the alley on the Right, it is not locked so just walk in. Remember to bring a bike lock. There is access to the back room directly from the back yard, it is on your Left as you enter. The bar is to the Right.
There is Free car-parking in the public car park at the rear of the Bell. Access to the car-park is beside Barclays Bank (At the southern end of St Johns). Head for the Sports Centre and park near the recycling bins. The rear end of the alleyway is close the back of the small car-park, to access the Bell walk down the alley and the Gate to the Yard is on the Left.
